Manhattan Townhouse
New York City
The home for this exquisite collection is a 10,000 sq. foot townhouse renovated by architect Rafael Viñoly with interiors by AD100 designer Steven Volpe that include a vaultlike central elevator of steel and glass and a windowed rear façade. The client has been working with Yvonne Force Villareal, Culture Corps’ lead curator, for more than two decades. Focusing primarily on emerging artists (now mid-career) many have become major names in contemporary art, among them Shara Hughes, Lucy Bull, Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, John Currin, Oscar Murillo and Hernan Bas. More recently, they have been able to access their “dream list,” acquiring works by Agnes Martin, David Hockney, Jasper Johns and Stanley Whitney. Elevating the art collection to new heights is the client's more recent passion for modern furniture design, creating an environment of palpable integrity.
